Choosing the Right All-Inclusive Escape for Your Family

Beaches Negril vs. Beaches Turks & Caicos: Which One Is Best for Your Family?

If you have been looking at a Beaches vacation, there is a VERY good chance you have found yourself trying to choose between the two big ones:

Beaches Negril or Beaches Turks & Caicos?

And honestly? This is a hard comparison because they are both fantastic family resorts. They just offer two very different kinds of vacations.

Beaches Negril is more laid-back and compact, with a beautiful beachfront setting on Jamaica’s Seven Mile Beach.

Beaches Turks & Caicos is much larger, with more areas to explore and more going on throughout the resort.

Neither one is automatically “better.”

It really comes down to what your family wants out of the vacation.

Let’s break it down.

First, What Is Actually Included at Beaches?

Before we compare the two resorts, this is one of the biggest reasons families choose Beaches in the first place.

Both Beaches Negril and Beaches Turks & Caicos are truly all-inclusive.

Your stay includes your accommodations, meals, snacks, drinks, premium liquor for adults, Kids Camp, daily activities, nightly entertainment, water sports, Wi-Fi, airport transfers, taxes and gratuities.

Certified scuba divers can even dive during their stay without paying extra for the actual dives.

And Beaches isn't just a resort that happens to allow children. The entire brand was built around family travel.

There are Kids Camp programs for different ages, activities for tweens and teens, Sesame Street experiences for younger kids, waterparks, pools, water sports and plenty for adults, too.

So with either resort, you are getting a LOT.

The biggest difference is really how you want all of that packaged.

The Beach

Let's start with the obvious.

They're called Beaches Resorts. 😂

Beaches Negril

Beaches Negril sits directly along Jamaica's famous Seven Mile Beach, and the beach is a HUGE part of the resort experience.

One thing I love about the layout here is how much of the resort feels connected to the ocean.

The waterpark is beachside. Pools, restaurants and activities are all right there. You aren't staying at a giant property where you almost forget the ocean exists until you make your way back over to it.

The water is beautiful, the beach is long, and Negril has that laid-back Jamaican feel that makes it very easy to settle into vacation mode.

Beaches Turks & Caicos

And then there's Grace Bay.

This is the water you picture when someone says Turks & Caicos.

Bright turquoise, powdery white sand, and absolutely gorgeous.

Beaches Turks & Caicos sits along Grace Bay, and if having that almost unreal Caribbean water is high on your vacation wish list, Turks is going to be very hard to beat.

My pick for the beach: Beaches Turks & Caicos

But I say that by a VERY small margin.

Nobody is going to Beaches Negril and saying, "Ugh, what a terrible beach." 😂

Resort Size & Getting Around

THIS is probably one of the biggest differences between the two.

Beaches Negril

Negril is much easier to navigate.

You can leave your room, head to breakfast, spend some time at the waterpark, go to the beach, grab lunch, swing by Kids Camp and head back to your room without feeling like you crossed a small country.

If you are traveling with babies, toddlers, strollers, grandparents, or anyone who just doesn't want to walk miles every day on vacation, this matters.

You still have plenty happening.

It just feels manageable.

Beaches Turks & Caicos

Beaches Turks & Caicos is BIG.

There are five different villages:

Caribbean & Seaside Village
French Village
Italian Village
Key West Village
Treasure Beach Village

Each has its own feel, and guests can use amenities throughout the entire resort regardless of which village they're staying in.

That is part of what makes Turks so much fun. You can spend one day in one area and feel like you have somewhere completely different to explore the next day.

But it also means room location matters more.

I would not book Beaches Turks & Caicos by blindly grabbing the first room category you see online and calling it a day.

Where you're staying can absolutely change the feel of your vacation.

Easiest resort to navigate: Beaches Negril

Most to explore: Beaches Turks & Caicos

Pools & Waterparks

If your kids consider a hotel pool the most important feature of any vacation, this section is for them. 😂

Beaches Negril

Beaches Negril has three pools and its own Pirates Island Waterpark.

The waterpark is 18,000 square feet and includes two big waterslides, a 650-foot lazy river, splash areas and little kid-friendly water slides and features.

And I actually really like how everything works together here.

The waterpark, beach and pools are all easy to bounce between, which is especially nice with younger kids.

You don't have to turn "let's go back to the waterpark" into a family relocation project.

Beaches Turks & Caicos

This is where Turks takes things to another level.

There are 10 pools throughout the resort, plus the massive Pirates Island Waterpark.

You'll find big waterslides, smaller slides for younger kids, a lazy river, splash areas, kid-friendly pools and even a kids-only swim-up bar.

Treasure Beach also brought another gorgeous lagoon-style pool and a kids area with slides to the resort.

For kids who LOVE the water, especially older kids and tweens, Turks is hard to beat.

My pick: Beaches Turks & Caicos

Food

Okay.

This category is almost unfair. 😂

Beaches Negril

Beaches Negril has 13 restaurants, which is still a TON for one resort.

You have everything from casual options and pizza to international cuisine, seafood and Japanese teppanyaki.

For a five-to-seven-night vacation, there is more than enough variety to eat somewhere different almost every night.

And because the resort is smaller, deciding where to eat doesn't feel like quite as much of an event.

Beaches Turks & Caicos

Beaches Turks & Caicos currently has 26 dining options, including 23 restaurants and three food trucks.

Twenty. Six.

At that point I need a spreadsheet. 😂

There is Italian, Caribbean, Indian, Japanese, seafood, pizza, steakhouse dining, quick-service options, food trucks and more.

Treasure Beach added even more to the lineup, including Butch's Island Steakhouse and The Pinta Food Hall.

For foodie families or families where everyone wants something different, Turks wins this category pretty easily.

My pick: Beaches Turks & Caicos

Rooms & Suites

This one isn't as simple as picking a winner.

Both resorts have a huge range of accommodations, from more traditional hotel rooms all the way up to large family suites, concierge rooms and butler-level accommodations.

Beaches Negril

One of the things I like about Negril is that choosing your room feels a little less overwhelming.

There are still plenty of categories, but because the resort itself is more compact, I don't worry quite as much about a family ending up in a location that doesn't make sense for how they want to vacation.

There are also some beautiful larger accommodations for families who want more space or multiple bedrooms.

Beaches Turks & Caicos

Turks has an enormous selection because you aren't only choosing a room.

You are choosing a village and a room.

And those villages can feel very different.

You can stay in a more traditional room, choose a family suite, or go all the way up into seriously gorgeous multi-bedroom accommodations.

Treasure Beach has 11 room categories of its own, including concierge suites and three- and four-bedroom Reserve Villas designed for larger and multigenerational families.

So if you need space, Turks gives us a LOT to work with.

But this is also exactly why I don't recommend choosing your room based solely on price.

My pick: Tie

Negril wins for simplicity.

Turks wins for sheer selection.

Traveling With Babies & Toddlers

Both resorts are REALLY good for families with little ones.

Kids Camp programming starts with babies, and Beaches has certified nannies and age-specific programs throughout childhood.

That alone makes Beaches very different from a lot of family-friendly all-inclusives.

There is a difference between a resort saying, "Sure, bring your baby," and a resort actually being designed to accommodate one.

If I were choosing specifically for a family with babies or toddlers, though?

I would give Beaches Negril the edge.

Not because Turks doesn't cater to little kids. It absolutely does.

It's because when I'm carrying sunscreen, diapers, cups, a pool bag, snacks, a change of clothes, someone's favorite toy and possibly a toddler who has decided their legs no longer work...

I appreciate a smaller resort. 😂

Tweens & Teens

Now flip everything I just said.

For older kids?

Beaches Turks & Caicos.

The giant waterpark alone is a huge selling point, but you also have teen spaces, gaming, tons of pools, water sports, dining choices and simply more resort to explore.

That larger size becomes a benefit once your kids are old enough to want some independence.

There is enough going on that a tween or teenager isn't going to feel like the entire vacation revolves around Sesame Street and little-kid activities.

Multigenerational Families

This one really depends on your group.

If you're bringing grandparents who don't want to do a ton of walking, I would lean toward Beaches Negril.

If you're bringing a big extended family where everyone has VERY different vacation priorities, Turks starts making a lot of sense.

Grandma wants the beach.

The toddler wants the splash area.

Your 10-year-old wants the waterpark.

Your teenager wants absolutely nothing to do with any of you for three hours. 😂

Dad wants to scuba dive.

Mom wants one peaceful drink by the pool.

Then everyone meets back up for dinner.

That's where the sheer size of Beaches Turks & Caicos works beautifully.

And with the three- and four-bedroom villas now available in Treasure Beach, there are some incredible options for larger families who want to stay together without actually being on top of each other for seven days.

Getting There

This is something I ALWAYS think families should consider when they're comparing resorts.

Because getting off an airplane with tired kids and realizing you still have a long transfer ahead of you hits differently than looking at it on Google Maps from your couch. 😂

Beaches Turks & Caicos

Beaches Turks & Caicos is only about 15 minutes from Providenciales International Airport.

This is one of its biggest underrated advantages.

You land, get through the airport, hop into your included transfer and you’re basically there.

The tradeoff? Depending on where you’re flying from, getting to Turks & Caicos can mean fewer nonstop options, longer travel days, and a connection or three.

Beaches Negril

For Beaches Negril, you'll typically fly into Montego Bay.

The flight options can often be easier from the U.S., but once you land, you do have a longer ground transfer to the resort — usually around 80 minutes.

I would take it into consideration, especially for a shorter vacation or when traveling with very young kids.

My pick for easiest travel day: It's heavily going to depend on where you are traveling from.

What About Price?

Neither one of these resorts is a budget all-inclusive.

Let's just get that out of the way. 😂

Beaches is a premium family resort brand, and the price reflects everything that is already included in your stay.

But pricing can vary WILDLY based on travel dates, your family size, room category, promotions and how early we're booking.

In general, Beaches Turks & Caicos can get expensive very quickly, particularly during school breaks and holidays or when we need larger family accommodations.

Negril can sometimes give us a little more breathing room in the budget while still giving you that full Beaches experience.

But I would never tell a family, "Negril is always cheaper," because I've seen enough resort pricing to know better than to make promises like that. 😂

This is one of those situations where we actually need to price both for your specific family and dates.

And I would MUCH rather put you into the right room at Negril than squeeze your budget to the absolute max just so you can say you stayed at Turks.

So... Beaches Negril or Beaches Turks & Caicos?

Here's my easiest way to decide.

Choose Beaches Negril if...

You prefer a smaller, easier-to-navigate resort.

You are traveling with babies or toddlers.

You have grandparents or anyone who doesn't want to do a ton of walking.

You want a gorgeous beach and plenty of activities without needing endless options.

You love the more relaxed Jamaican vibe.

You want everything to feel close and easy.

Choose Beaches Turks & Caicos if...

You want the biggest Beaches experience.

Your kids LOVE pools and waterparks.

You have older kids, tweens or teens.

Dining variety is really important to your family.

You want tons of activities without ever needing to leave the resort.

You are traveling with a larger or multigenerational group.

You like having different areas to explore throughout your vacation.

You don't mind a larger property.

Okay, But Which One Would I Pick?

If you backed me into a corner and made me choose ONE overall?

Beaches Turks & Caicos.

I mean...

Grace Bay.

Five villages.

Ten pools.

A gigantic waterpark.

Twenty-six dining options.

You could stay for a full week and still leave thinking, "Wait, we never did that!"

It is just an incredible family resort.

BUT.

And this is a very important but.

That does not mean I think every family should book Turks.

Give me a family with a baby and a 3-year-old who wants an easy vacation where everything is close together?

I may send them straight to Negril.

Give me grandparents who hear "huge resort" and immediately start Googling how many steps are in a mile?

Negril. 😂

Give me a family with a 10-year-old and a 14-year-old who want waterslides, pools, food, activities and approximately zero opportunities to say "I'm bored"?

Pack your bags. We're going to Turks.

And THIS is why I don't really like answering the question:

"Which Beaches resort is better?"

Because I don't care which one wins on paper.

I care which one makes the most sense when I look at your kids' ages, your budget, your room needs, your travel style, and what your family actually considers a vacation.

Because the "best" resort on the internet can still be completely wrong for you.

Ready to Plan a Beaches Vacation?

If Beaches Negril or Beaches Turks & Caicos is on your family's wish list, this is exactly where working with a travel advisor who actually knows the differences comes in handy.

There are a LOT of room categories at Beaches.

Especially at Turks.

And the cheapest room isn't necessarily the best value if it's in the wrong location, doesn't give your family the space you need, or leaves you wishing you had chosen differently once you arrive.

I can help compare the resorts, room categories and current pricing and narrow it down based on your family, rather than just sending you whichever option Google told you was the most popular.

Because if we're spending Beaches money, we're choosing the right Beaches. 😂
